Machine Learning vs AI

Which is Better Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) ?

If these both terms are concerned it becomes difficult to choose which one is better. Today in this article I'm gonna clear all of your doubts regarding to this question. So, let's begin.

First, let's talk about Machine Learning - Machine learning (ML) is the study of computer algorithms and it is a branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) which enhance their accuracy of predicting things over the period of time. In simple words it is a kind of training of a software that developes itself with the course of time. In day-to-day life we all are surrounded by Machine Learning. Some of the examples are - The recommendation of our favourite products on various websites or on applications etc. Spam detectors do not allow unwanted emails from reaching our inboxes. Image Recognition, Speech Recognition,Medical diagnosis etc. Or those chatbots on some websites which interact with us and place some offers in front of us or whatever they are supposed to do. One of our favourite self driving cars also use machine learning to do their work properly for what they are made. All these examples of machine learning are optimising themselves right now and soon we are gonna see this world at next level, at that level that we never imagined, that level that is impossible for us to do right now in this present day world. If we take a look at our past the machines were supposed to be bulky and really really large too take a look at this image -

This computer is the first mechanical computer made by Charles Babbage in 19th century and he worked on it for several years and the name of this machine is analytical engine, which is considered the first computer. Let me give you another example -
This is also an example of one of the first computers ever made. From these images you can form an idea that how human evolution has enhanced itself from nothing to something. Okay, back to the topic. So, if we say in general Machine learning (ML) is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that allows software applications to become more accurate at predicting outcomes without being explicitly programmed to do so. Machine learning algorithms use historical data as input to predict new output values.

How does Machine Learning Work?

Let's take an example to understand it better. Let's consider a boy (x) who loves to play games. He likes that kind of games that has high graphics and good sound quality and dislikes the games that has low graphics and sound quality. So, let us consider he played a game with high graphics and really good sound quality, what do you think he would like it or not ?
And your simple answer would be yes and that's correct and what if plays a game vice versa of it. Yes, of course he would dislike it and uninstall it, quite obvious right. But if he plays a game with moderate graphics and sound quality. Now, what you think ? Now, it becomes slightly tough to predict and this is where machine learning comes into the picture. As I told you that machine learning makes predictions on past data that it has and tries to give accurate data. According to machine learning (ml) algorithm if he plays a game with moderate graphics and sound quality, ultimately he would like it. This is how a simple machine learning algorithms works. Now, there are many types machine learning. 1.) Supervised Learning 2.) Unsupervised Learning 3.) Reinforcement Learning. I have made a full blog on it. You can check it out on this link -
Since, it is a comparison it would become too lengthy to cover all those topics here. So, let's move further towards Artificial Intelligence (AI).

What is Artificial Intelligence (AI) ?

The term (ai) was first introduced in the year 1956, by John McCarty at Dartmouth Conference. AI is basically the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed in such way that they can behave and mimic like humans. A subset of artificial intelligence is machine learning, which refers to the concept that computer programs can automatically learn from and adapt to new data without being assisted by humans. When term ai is introduced to people they must think about robots and that kind of stuff and that's obvious also because they have read novels and magazines about robot as AI's, even in the movies the robots are displayed so.
